Artist Statement
Since the notion of scientific objectivity is inherently debatable, another way to go about understanding the world and ourselves is to play with its tools in a looser, more intimate way: to extract from data its latent poetic content.
With such notoriously unreliable data as that generated by memory or perception, the rigors and constraints of proper science become pliant and more expressive. The methods themselves are formal devices in service of the idea. The result of measuring and processing the intangible is another instance of subjectivity.
It is both the virtue and fault of translation that every language brings to the process its own character, making possible an infinite chain of evolving meaning.
