Artist Statement
I make my work without using a computer. I like drawing by hand. Sometimes the process is relaxing and meditative, a calming repetitive act. But more often it is fast, frustrating and frenetic. I like to see at what point things become too complex to comprehend. I like to push into the place where I no longer know where I am in the drawing. I don't know what the drawing is going to look like until it is done and that motivates me because I want to see what it looks like. It often takes a lot of mental and emotional energy to create one of my drawings. I want my work to reflect all that exertion into one intensely charged image.
