Artist Statement
I open my work to what it represents by making. Oh I thought it was supposed to be this way. I am not pure at anything. I couple the work with what it should be. Not just in relation to art history, but in the context of infrastructure and architecture, to memory and systems of belief. There is more to do with a pattern of imbalance than patterning. All the weight of the work is placed on the viewer. The viewer simplifies and harmonizes the structure. The investment in the image makes these things tick. I think about the external’s dependency on the internal. Through my work I communicate the fragility of powerful objects, the tenderness of structural objects, and the beauty of an unsettling situation.
