Artist Statement

 My most recent drawings and prints involve re-working U.S. city and state maps from the late 1800's, and transforming patterns contained within these geographies (railway stops, street corners, repeating letters or numbers) in order to generate new topographical and celestial landscapes. Often incorporating invented routes, such as possible escape paths between points, further abstracts the original cartographic information. These recycled landscapes represent an on going exploration between paper and print, typography and topography, history and imagination.
