Artist Statement

My work is an attempt to understand where my personal territory ends and where is the beginning of my social territory. Knowledge is constructed by the relationships we establish with the world around, before and now. I believe lines, dots and actions help me to make that sort of subtle connections visible.

Artist Bio / CV

Lina Espinosa

Her recent solo shows include Impacto Mínimo, Museo de Arte Bolivariano de Sata Marta, 2013, Coordenadas Móviles, Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá, 2012 and Through the Body, Flatfile Galleries, Chicago, Illinois, 2008; She has shown her work mainly in Colombia, South America, although she has participated in some international group shows.

   MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1989-1991). Fulbright Scholar (1989, 1991), Lina was Head of the Art Department (1998 to 2001) at Universidad de Los Andes, where she is currently Associated Professor. Being involved with education has transform her work opening the curiosity to  establish contact between different disciplines and areas of knowledge. Her interest towards creation of collaborative projects is seen in Obra Viva, Zonas Vulnerables Tolima, 2009.

She has been participating actively in the Colombian art scene.
