Artist Statement

For the past thirty years I have been primarily focused on sculptural forms using fiber as line, and at the same time I have been drawing consistently.  I now find myself quite obsessed by the drawn line and its endless possibilities.

My pen and ink drawings, at times combined with collage, encompass my thoughts and observations of life’s dark side including violence, evil, illness and mortality. My drawings are both spontaneous and delicate.

The core of my work is unpredictable, allowing subconscious thoughts to permeate my work.  There is hidden meaning through fragmented figuration, abstract and botanical forms.

As in my sculpture I seek mystery and psychological complexities in my drawings.  I want the viewer to collaborate by interpreting my art on a personal level.
