Artist Statement
These works are from the “Life After Death” Series, and on-going project that currently  consists of about 40 hand-worked, digital images.  Each work combines four elements: a photograph from the US National Archives, its official documentation (i.e., description, date, photographer, etc.), a handwritten fictional embellishment,  and various marks, tears, stains and splatters.  The images come from the Civil War, the Filipino War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

In general, the works attempt to construct prologues to the lives of the depicted dead and to acknowlege the interweaving of lives around the world and through the generations.
