Artist Statement

While drawing I am reminded of the state of calm engagement I experienced as a child "coloring" . It is this meditative play which excites me . The spontanaeity inherent to  drawing allows me to grab and choose random elements from my various inspirations in an unprecious way.It also allows me to enjoy  the speed , rythyms and layering  of mark making as much as the unleashing of my unconscious while developing a narrative.

I'm often drawn to creating psychological landscapes where polar themes play out, such as the domestic and the political, humor and fear ,calm and chaos. They are quirky  self portraits, and hopefully  a slight temperature gage of our  collective unconcscious
