Artist Statement

Mary Osmundsen: Artist Statement

The process of drawing has become a means for me to simplify and contain biological forces that feel out of control. Through the repetitious drawing of simple biomorphic forms, I explore subtle shifts and variations in energy, tension, isolation and connection.

I am fascinated by how seemingly simple organisms and forms have the potential to be the impetus for extremely complex actions that affect entire systems.
