Artist Statement

2 September 2012

Luftmentsh, in Yiddish, means ‘a dreamer/ a man with his head in the clouds’ but also more recently ‘a man whose business is in concepts/ideas; i.e. a man who sells air, (luft)’.The series evolved as I considered the relationship between a person and his ideas – how he forms his identity. The question for me became how to portray the man and his construction of himself.
