Artist Statement

My paintings are visual metaphors of my everyday life. In that way they are like visual poems. I try to make them have a kind of rhythm that moves the viewer’s eye across the painting. Drawing and line quality are an important part of my process and are at the heart of each piece. I use color to create space, light and shadow, which sets the context for the interplay of elements and subject matter in the work. While some areas are sharply delineated others are more vague and open to the viewer’s interpretation.

Artist Bio / CV

I was born and raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Parsons in New York City. I have been an artist my whole life and have been involved in both the fine art and commercial worlds. My paintings and works on paper are regularly included in group shows and I have had several one-person shows primarily in New York. I am an accomplished designer and have licensed many signature collections to prominent fabric and wallcovering houses. Other experience includes set design for the Julliard School and the Public Theater, illustration and poster design. Currently, I am a full-time painter.
