Artist Statement

My practice appropriates aspects of the Gothic double - costuming & gender definition - in order to interrogate the power play of personal and professional relationships.

Referencing the warrior woman guise of Kate Bush music videos via Goth fashions of the 1980s and the cliché of the mad woman in the attic, my work revels in themes of duty and desire, devotion and decadence.

The anxiousness that accompanies any attempt to master (a feminine) identity is revealed through neurotic repetition and obsessive mirroring of imagery. Performative repetition plays a large role in both the creation of the work and how the work actually looks.
