A single word, a particular phrase, a common object, with its infinite variation of forms and lines, can offer numerous opportunities for reinvention. I refashion these ordinary elements into new narratives in which the "possibility of the familiar recovering its original strangeness"* occurs. Working with a range of materials on paper, Mylar, and cloth, I draw, paint, stencil or collage images and text. Throughout the process, the tension of line, the happenstance of marks, and the density of surface become variables to control or to release.
