Artist Statement

Drawing as a standalone art form and technique has been in my focus for the past 7 years. This long lasting passion has led me to creating large number of works through which I defined my own artistic expression and language using only a pencil on a paper as a medium.

It has all started from a series of 27x19” drawings dealing with concentration camps as their main subject. These simple linear drawings with strong contrasts showing repeating images of objects and human belongings separated from their owners in secluded and barbed wire fenced landscapes emitted strong, clear and definite message and tangible emotion. Ominous, threatening and alerting atmosphere has established itself as a base for the further series of drawings on even larger formats. Repetition of objects and things has found its way out of barbed wire fences and entered all known human environments. All these images with not a single human being shown, and without any given explanation or reason for its absence show looming picture of humanity’s destiny where all the things we did  and created just left no space for us to be.

This particular vision of world came out of repeating journeys to my own soul, through exploring feelings of loneliness, isolation and fear and continuous prayers and hopes for salvation. Each drawing is formed slowly from calm and carefully planned traces of pencil on paper and this effort of long time involvement with each of the artworks gives them additional strength without taking any of its lightness or airiness away.
