Artist Statement

I take turns experimenting with the formal, the subconscious, and imagery struggling to be made whole.  A sense of displacement and desire drives me to connect with wandering visions of the past such as 16th century panoramas, 18th and 19th century quests for sublimation, and architectural anxieties of the 1900s.  The work finds a sense of purpose in the writings of Italo Calvino, where titles reference surreal environments that are never what they seem at first glance.

Materials such as ink and slick, translucent surfaces require that layering, chance, and time enter into the conversation.
