Artist Statement

My interest has always been in looking at what creates meaning. In drawing I particularly like the contradiction between the precision of line and the obfuscation of overlays and incomplete information.

I use a limited vocabulary -- natural forms, simple shapes (wheels, flowers) -- and often the action of making lines and marks (drawing), determines what the image will become.

I am interested in associative thinking as it creates open-ended, (perhaps meaningless), and ungovernable narratives -- explored through the way the eye moves around within the space of a drawing. I'm looking to enjoy the relationship between image and time, perception and association. The space of my drawings is layered, structured and suspended.
