This recent series has become increasingly fragmented and, as it has developed, also become more sparse, less cluttered. Colors take on a chordal quality. The role that line assumes is both exploratory and unifying. But foremost, line remains a gesture, an impulse, an urge -- and hopefully, permits each piece a fragile immediate presence.
