Artist Bio / CV
Wells' work will be included in Southern Exposure's Auction, Parade, on March 23, 2013, then shown in "Range", a summer group show at PDX Contemporary Art in Portland, OR opening June 6, 2013.
Her work was recently included in "Decade", a group tenth anniversary show at Gregory Lind Gallery, and a two person show, with Leif Low-beer, "Heap Gives Up", at Beginnings Gallery, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
This spring, Gregory Lind Gallery in San Francisco presented "Remains", a solo show of collage and small sculpture.
In Fall 2011, Ampersand International Arts in San Francisco presented "Deception", a solo show of collage and sculpture.
Earlier in 2011, Leigh's work was included in "Building Context" at Guerrero Gallery in San Francisco and in "Tensile Strength" at ZieherSmith Gallery in New York along with works by Kate Gilmore, Joy Curtis, and Jess Fuller.
Previously, Gallery 16 in San Francisco held a one person show of drawings. Leigh's work has appeared in Harper's magazine and are included in the Viewing Program at The Drawing Center in New York, and the flat files at Pierogi in Brooklyn.
Leigh Wells was born in Oakland, California, and currently lives and works in Berkeley. She holds a BFA summa cum laude from University of San Francisco, with further study at the San Francisco Art Institute, Crown Point Press and Parsons/New School in New York.
