My drawings allude to patterns and structures visible in nature.Images oscillate between topographical and biological forms,
gestural and designed compositions. They are created by rippingpaper with a thumbtack repeatedly, leaving a delicate, tactile relief to the surface. It is an intuitive process of mark-making; primal
The gesture is utilitarian, as darning an article of clothing; therapeuticin it’s repetitiveness. It is compulsive and probing, as picking a scabor delving into a deep mystery.
Drawing is a documentation of mental state and time. Compositions
are driven by an innate sense of order and balance. From a distance the work may appear an ordinary sheet of neutral-toned paper. Upon closer investigation, forms emerge from individual marks; lines and patterns interweave and move across the paper.
