Artist Statement
I have been working with lines for a while. I was interested in how a single line can carry a lot of things. I looked at Brice Marden, Japanese ink paintings, cartoons, animations, R.Crumb, Sue Williams and Richard Serra. And I have come to realize that what is in between lines is more beautiful than the lines themselves. What is not being said is even more beautiful than what is being said. Less can carry a lot more.

I have come to respect the late 1960’s works of the the New York minimalists but also California light and space minimalist works. I am also interested in sound. I listen to LaMonte Young’s music in my studio. A single tone can carry a lot as in his music.  I think there is much need for less_ness in the world we are living in now and the spirituality that comes with it.
