Artist Statement
The work begins by placing automatic random drawings of varied sized shapes dispersed within the oval.  The derivation of the shapes is an intuitive act that pulls them out of the subconscious.  From that point on, the drawing develops with an attitude of creating an environment in which these shapes function in a seemingly familiar situation.  Part of the aim of the process is to see what simple groupings and accumulations of marks, accomplished mainly by thin pen lines, can enable a viewer to feel as if they are a witness to a totally fictional situation.  The remainder of my aim in drawing is to amuse myself and others.
