My drawings are created in a concentrated drawing process where intuition and the unconscious are important elements. The phenomena of music and landscape are often nearby associations, but the works are essentially abstract expressions of inner images and impulses. The relation to space is important for me. The drawings are mainly large, often in charcoal on paper, but I also work in smaller formats.
The size of the drawings contributes to give the works a relation to the body. The large movement, the surrounding space, the flow of the signs, the jazz notes, a musical structure in dissolution can be characterizing conceptions. The dream of the landscape. Figure, time and movement. The music.
In the recent time also colour has become an important element for me. The sharpness, the space, layers and tones of the material are qualities that have fascinated me in my work with the coloured pencils. The works are open towards the viewer, with possibilities of perception in various directions.
The title "Ahrenshoop Sketchbook” refers to the geographical place where this series was made, which however does not reflect any outer landscape but a kind of inner journey where the body and the sculptural aspect has been an idea.
I also work with sculpture, and my works often exist on the border between the 2- and the 3- dimensional. The wall –sculptures of wire are site –specific installations on the borderline between a 2 – and 3- dimensional work, with a close relationship to drawing. The mass of wires indicates a volume, while the single wire, together with its shadow on the wall, is perceived as a sign. The sculptures are mounted on the spot, and each sculpture is therefore a new work.
