Artist Statement
There are two series of drawings here. The Claimed Master Drawings are works that re-interpret Western Master drawings from the 18th-20th century by drawing with graphite directly on top of the printed paper pages separated from a book. I often used Native American Hopi imagery as a non-western source to transform the original sketch. The Left-Handed Drawings are works created by my left hand which I do not typically use to create artwork when my right hand was injured. The contour drawings are created by faithful representations from my record LP collection. The result becomes a self-portrait of my tastes and expressions.
