Artist Statement

 Mollyne Karnofsky

STATEMENT

I see and work in all media. The connection between my senses as a human being and artist are one.

Also, my inner nature resembles the natural environment. So often I work in site specific settings and it takes form in various ways in my studio work.

My "Found Spaces" in the 1970's and my work at PS1 established the groundwork for much of my later work. International exhibitions in Stockholm and Istanbul allowed me to bring my concepts to other countries.

"Stir Up", "Shaking Hands" and "Drawin" are my installations for the last three years (2007-2009) on Governors Island. The most recent, "Stir Up", 2009, resembles a reptile and combines plastic bottles, wire and acrylic paint. "Shaking Hands" is an installation of 56 sculptural hands in 5 trees. "Drawin" sweeps across two distant trees with twisted. braided, looped rope and participating children's drawings.

"Katrossa", 2008 is an abstract, acrylic and monoprint series.. "Time Puzzle", 2004-2008 is a mixed media series allowing my work outside effect the medium and the outcome.
