Artist Statement

 

Artist Bio / CV

Jackie Saccoccio has exhibited her paintings, drawings and installations including solo exhibitions at Eleven Rivington Gallery (2010/2008), Samson Projects (with Jeffrey Gibson, 2010), Beatrice Gallery, RISD Rome, Italy (2008), Black & White Gallery, NY (2006), Galerie Michael Neff, Frankfurt (2003), Bowery Poetry Club (2003) and White Columns (2001). 

Saccoccio  recently curated Collision at the RISD Museum of Art in Providence, an additive collaborative exhibtiion.  This  was a restaging Blue Balls, which she organized in 2008 at Art Production Fund's LAB in NYC.  Other group exibitions include La Barraliele, Tulette, France (2009),  Greene Naftali Gallery (2007), the American Academy in Rome, Rome, Italy (2005), Romanian Academy in Rome (2005),  KSArt, NY (2004), Oldenburger Kunstverein, Oldenburg, Germany (2003) and Barbara Gladstone Gallery, NY (2000) with upcoming exhibitions at the Addison Museum of American Art, Harris Leiberman Gallery, NY and the DeCordova Museum.

Saccoccio studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is the recipient of grants including the Rome Prize in Visual Arts from the American Academy in Rome (2005), Guggenheim Foundation Grant (2000),  Fulbright grant to Italy (1990) and a residency at the Monet Foundation in Giverny, France( 2004) selected by Art Production Fund.

Her work has been reviewed in Art In America,  The New Yorker, New York Magazine, The New York Sun, Gay City News, The Village Voice, Frankfurter Rundschau, TimeOut, and The New York Times.
