My drawings investigate objects of the world, codifying them into two-dimensional representations and re-articulating such representations into generally narrative compositions. These codifications and their re-articulations constitute the basis for conceiving some three-dimensional objects that are also part of my work. This three-dimensional production discusses, among other things, the relations it keeps with the original practice of drawing, revealing and elaborating the marks of a dimensional transition. The elements of the fields I elect undertake a process in which their forms are depurated until they reach a generic representation, one that communicates immediately the object in question, which I call codification. The drawings are produced every day and constitute a territory of continuous thought concerning the general work. Therefore, one can frequently notice the development and interchange of contents and operations from a drawing to another, sometimes in a direct sequence, and, some other times, with elements which emerged long ago resumed and articulated in new situations. It’s possible to state, then, that the drawing is the primary instance of artistic thinking in my work. It is precisely the articulation of the elements in a drawing and of the drawings in a series that constitute the discourse and poetics of the work. Situations in which these elements “play” with each other are recurrent, constructing relations of hierarchy, contamination, comparison, repetition, connotation and even irony. In some cases, the option for an almost child-like representation balances the critical conscience of the process with the poetical potency of simplicity and objectivity.
