Artist Statement
Social exchange can be both a creative or destructive force. In my work abstract bodies converge, there is tension and perversity in the moment of contact. Orifices and erotic forms collide and erupt and amorphous fleshy shapes wrestle to occupy the same space.

Each picture is a composite of two separate acrylic paintings on paper, sliced into tiny strips then combined. When forced into the same picture they become locked in a physical act. A connection arises between this new phenomenon and the subjects I render. When viewed closely, the images pulsate in contrasting color, and from far away the forms relax into transparent soft but unified bodies.

For me painting fulfills a need to release what I absorb living in New York City, surrounded by people, involved in and witness to many kinds of interactions. I am channeling those relationships around me as well as personas we are exposed to in the media. In the construction of these images as well as the abstract forms I paint, I depict the human desire to connect.
