Artist Statement


The motifs in these paintings are from nature, our ever present
and ever changing arena that sprouts up, leans over and then falls down.  This wobbly condition makes for an odd geometry and an abstraction of familiar forms favorable to my intention

An accumulation of thin tonal paints, reinstated pencil marks and collage creates a surface of indeterminate age.

Yes, these paintings are anthropomorphic.  The titles tell you so.  Wistful but not sentimental and with a resolution that resonates calm, they are neither obtrusive nor obscure.
