Artist Statement

I practiced Chinese traditional brush painting technique in college. Since then I focused on a specific fine-line figurative drawing style. Emphasizing on the meticulous touch and linear characteristic of fine brushwork, most of these drawings are executed on sized silk or rice paper with water-based colour.

I tried to capture the delicate texture and graphical sense of the tradition. At the same time, I hope to transform the ancient style into something modern by means of creating new themes. Here are some work in series that I am still continuing in progress.

Architecture series – Depicting women in costumes of modern architecture.

Ladyland series – Role play by women as “Mother”, “Queen”, “Princess” and more.

Musical families series – Human bodies transformed to music instruments.

Swimmer series - Graphical pattern of sea waves derived from "Blue and white" porcelain ware.

Spring picture series – “Kamasutra” in Indian tradition, “Shunga” in Japan tradition, or “Spring Picture” in Chinese tradition.
