Artist Statement

My work is grounded in an exploration of basic rendering materials, increasingly curious to geology and elementary science experiments. 

Oftentimes I collaborate with chemical reactions, oftentimes I collaborate with my sister, Janelle.

 

Artist Bio / CV

Lisa Iglesias was born and raised in Queens, New York. She received a BA from Binghamton University and received an MFA from the University of Florida.  She has attended residencies such as the Santa Fe Art Institute, The Fine Arts Work Center, The Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, the Blue Mountain Center, Cité Internationale des Arts through LMCC with Janelle Iglesias, among others. In 2009, she was awarded a Vermont Studio Center Fellowship supported by the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and has exhibited nationally and internationally at various spaces including El Museo del Barrio, The Islip Art Museum, the Queens Museum of Art, and the Jersey City Museum. A recipient of a 2009 NYFA Fellowship in Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts and the 2009/2010 Urban Artists Initiative/New York City, she works both individually as well as collaboratively with her sister, Janelle, under the name Las Hermanas Iglesias.
