Now available for purchase, this series by Pat Steir is the seventh in a set of limited editions generously donated to The Drawing Center by outstanding contemporary artists.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
A major figure in American art since the 1970s, Pat Steir’s artistic practice encompasses painting, printmaking, and drawing. She studied graphic art at the Pratt Institute, New York (1956-58), and painting and comparative literature at Boston University (1958-60). Born in Newark, NJ in 1940, Steir presently lives and works in New York and Amsterdam. A retrospective of her drawings is currently on view in the exhibition Pat Steir: Drawing Out of Line at the RISD Museum of Art. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions throughout the United States and in Europe, and is included in such preeminent collections as The Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Tate Gallery, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. She is represented by Cheim and Read in New York.
