Anna Maria Maiolino: A Life Line/Vida Afora

January 10 – February 21, 2002

This major exhibition marked the first time that the work of Anna Maria Maiolino was the subject of a solo exhibition in the United States. The exhibition featured one hundred drawings from Maiolino’s thirty-five-year career, including works on paper that involve folds, cuts, tears, hand-sewn seams, and flowing ink. The exhibition encompassed the entire scope of the artist’s drawing practice and focused on her use of open-ended and inclusive forms that examine the personal and political connotations of space, language, and geography. Anna Maria Maiolino: A Life Line/Vida Afora was curated by Catherine de Zegher.
