As part of The Drawing Center’s DrawNow! series, artist Morgan O’Hara will present Scribble; An Unselfconscious Return to Drawing. During this 3-hour FREE workshop, O’Hara will guide participants through drawing exercises using researched scribble sequences to explore the phenomenology of the unconscious as evoked through the act of drawing.
By using both hands to manipulate the pencil, participants will grapple with physical awkwardness and discover how lack of control often allows the unconscious to bring forth singular images to work with. Participants will be invited to share their experiences with the group through conversation and performative drawing. The goal is to support creative development and to reopen the capacity to play, to relax, rebalance, and restore the individual – body, mind, and heart.
This FREE workshop is open to everyone – not just those who consider themselves artists. The workshop will accommodate a maximum of 15 people. All ages are welcome. All materials will be provided by The Drawing Center or feel free to bring your own pencils. For further information and to make a reservation, contact Aimee Good at (212) 219-2166 x205 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
